Approximately 71% of global ammonia production is derived from natural gas and 27% from coal, predominantly in Asia Pacific. In both cases, ammonia production is associated with significant CO2 emissions. A significant market is emerging for clean ammonia, which can be used directly as a carbon free fuel for power generation and shipping, and also as a hydrogen carrier. This paper will assess possible pricing structures for clean ammonia and the interface with markets for conventional fuels and products.
