Nik Gowing serves as the founder and director of the Thinking the Unthinkable (TTU) project. Established in 2014, TTU has undertaken a comprehensive exploration of the challenges faced by leaders – be it in the corporate or political realm – within the contemporary landscape of global disruption. Central to TTU's mission is delving into the intricate demands posed to leadership in areas like sustainability, biodiversity, nature, and the climate crisis – all critical focal points of their endeavors. A thought-provoking reflection on our current situation.

Nik's extensive career includes his role as a primary news presenter for BBC World News from 1996 to 2014, during which he anchored programs like The Hub with Nik Gowing, BBC World Debates, and Dateline London. With a career spanning 18 years at ITN, he held positions as bureau chief in Rome and Warsaw, in addition to being the diplomatic editor for Channel Four News. He's made significant contributions as a council member for esteemed institutions such as Chatham House, the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), and the Overseas Development Institute. He's also been involved with the board of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy and the advisory council at Wilton Park. Nik's impact extends to academia, having served as a visiting professor at King's College, London, and Nanyang University, Singapore. He's received honorary doctorates from both Exeter University and Bristol University. Currently, Nik holds the esteemed position of Distinguished Fellow at RUSI.
